Both the UNSW Raiders Men’s and Women’s team are going to represent in their respective bowl games the Warratah Bowl and the Opal Bowl next weekend! Today UNSW Raider and New York Wolves Gridiron athlete Kira-Lea Dargin hosted the Girls in Sport Festival at Bankwest Stadium. Kira-Lea was joined by an impressive panel of Women in Sport including Australian Rep and Roosters Captian Simaima Taufa, NSW Swifts coach Briony Akle, Australian u21 Hockey player Lexie Pickering, Cricket NSW manager Sabrina Shaideen and GWS Giants AFLW player Erin McKinnon. 2019 SEASON – WEEK 13
The UNSW Raiders Colts were up 20-2 with 3 minutes left in the game and thought to be cruising for the win, but a late surging Rebels drew back the scoreline in a heart racing final few minutes leaving the Colts clinging onto the lead finishing out the game 20-16. UNSW Raiders clinched the top spot on the ladder and are one game away from claiming minor premiers with a gutsy 29-6 win over the number two team UTS Gators. QB Tanner Young (#15) said after the game, “It was a good effort and good team win. We scored when we needed to, and Defence played well. Huge win for both the Women’s team and the Colts teams today. Both teams battled through the heat of a Midday kickoff playing at two different venues across Sydney. The Colts scored their second win of the season defeating the Central West Giants 38-22.
